CNC milling

Tablelands Computers offers advanced computer aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) services using a 1300mm x 1000mm bed CNC mill, Mach3 based CNC controller and large lightbox.  Objects are placed on a lightbox.  A photograph is taken, resulting in a high contrast backlit bitmap image.  This bitmap image is then traced into a vector image consisting of nodes and line segments.  The outline of each object is translated into a closed spline shape and the combined result saved in AutoCAD DXF format.  From here Autodesk Fusion 360 is used to manipulate the 2D vector data, extrude objects and generate G-code milling toolpaths to feed into the Mach3 CNC controller driving the CNC mill.  We can engrave, mill, and cut acrylic, foam, wood and aluminium to specification.  We can help with the design, conversion and processing of 2D / 2.5D / 3D files for machining purposes.
