If you need to connect to the internet but there are no ADSL services available, you may want to connect to the internet over the mobile phone network instead.
For wireless devices like laptops, tablets, smartphones and iPads you can either hotspot your device or purchase a ‘portable hotspot’ device.
If however you require a wired connection to the internet, options are somewhat limited.
Option 1: Dlink DWR-116 + Pre-Paid Telstra 4G USB modem (ZTE MF823)
Dlink DWR-116
The Dlink DWR-116 Wireless N300 Multi-WAN Router allows you to connect a 4G LTE or 3G USB adapter for mobile broadband connectivity. The incoming connection is then shared via a Wireless network, allowing you to set up a wireless network almost anywhere that you have a 4G or 3G broadband signal. Alternatively you can use the 4 ethernet ports located at the back of the device to connect a network lead. Note the blue shaded port on the back of the device – this is an uplink port. Uplink ports are used to daisychain a device to a parent device on the network – if you are connecting a computer use any of the 4 yellow shaded ports instead. The antennas on this device are simple wi-fi antennas and not related to the mobile phone network (LTE 4G).
Note: Please download and install the latest firmware on the device from the Dlink website.
