Description

Blender is a professional, free and open-source 3D computer graphics software toolset used for creating animated films, games, visual effects and more.   Blender’s features include 3D modeling, UV unwrapping, texturing, lighting, animating and rendering.

This 2 hour training session will teach you how to use the Blender software.  This course will help you understand how to use the Blender main application window and toolbars including common keyboard shortcuts.

Lesson plan

The lesson plan covers the following activities:

  1. Download and install Blender.
  2. Navigate the main menu.
  3. Learn about T (Tools menu toggle)  and N (Numeric transforms toggle).
  4. Learn about TAB Sub object mode.
  5. Download a demo scene file and render.
  6. Pull vertices, edges and polygons.
  7. Learn about seams and UVW unwrap.
  8. Learn about UV edit mode.
  9. Texture paint.
  10. Use the Node Editor to create complex textures.
